In this article, we demonstrate how to implement an irregularity of a radially symmetric surface, such as errors due to diamond turning, using a spatial frequency periodic surface. The proposed method is a dedicated user-defined DLL sequential surface that is a combination of the usual even aspherical surface with the Zernike terms and an additional periodical sag variation. We will use the periodic irregularity of this mid spatial frequency to evaluate, and tolerance the surface irregularity of an aspherical singlet lens and a Tessar objective.
