This article introduces a new model added in OpticStudio 20.1 to fully simulate volume holographic gratings with considering its physical properties, such like diffraction efficiency, shrinkage, and index shift. These properties were not supported while they are important for designing systems like head mounted display (HMD) and head up display (HUD). To support these physical properties, two Dynamic Link Library (DLL) files are added in OpticStudio 20.1. In the article, the theories are reviewed, the parameters in the model are explained, and 5 examples are introduced to familiarize users with the model.

These features are only available in Premium Subscription version of OpticStudio.
